CRi Criminal Investigation is NOT a guessing game..! Nothing matters but the facts. Without them the science of Criminal investigation is nothing more than the guessing game..... CRIMINAL PROCEDURE The framework of laws and rules that govern the administration of justice in cases involving an individual who has been accused of a crime, beginning with the initial investigation of the crime and concluding either with the unconditional release of the accused by virtue of acquittal (a judgment of not guilty) or by the imposition of a term of punishment pursuant to a conviction for the crime. Introduction Criminal procedures are safeguards against the indiscriminate application of criminal laws and the wanton treatment of suspected criminals. Specifically, they are designed to enforce the constitutional rights of criminal suspects and defendants, beginning with initial police contact and continuing through arrest, investigation, trial, sentencing, and appeals.       INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM Journalism is more like advocacy. A journalist cannot just inform the public and lay off, rather he or she helps the community to address the problems and provide solutions for a sustainable and healthy democratic society. And if a journalist just relies on ‘he said/she said’ kind of journalism, he or she cannot fulfil the role of advocacy journalism. They have to be honest with their profession and work on a broader framework. They cannot satisfy themselves only by informing the public. Rather, they have to empower and mobilise them. This goal can best be achieved by employing investigative journalism practices. Despite the scary picture of today’s reality, which is all about the declining trend of investigative journalism practices, we have a number of reasons to be hopeful for a better replacement to the traditional investigative model. Following the recent debates on Pakistani news channels lamenting investigative journal...
The Criminal Investigative Function Crime wreaks havoc on the very framework of our society, no one is immune from it.  Regardless of race, background, or financial status, crime can and will touch your life in a negative way.  The role of the criminal investigator is to fill the gap from suspect to victim.  The investigative function centers around the investigator. The qualities of a good investigator can be summed up in five key topics. Persistent Determined Communicator Oriented toward details Prepared       These areas are not important if  the investigation is not done  completely,  there is no excuse for a lack of proper investigation.  Police and MLDI both must work as one unit – one team, to properly and completely investigate a death. The questions that arose in the death of Justice Scalia proves that every scene must be worked within a set of common standards and without the need to speed a conclusion....
HOW CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENTS PROCEED THE INVESTIGATIONS? Approach the Scene   The crime scene investigator returns the microphone to its clip and begins the drive to the latest assignment. A crime scene investigation begins well before the CSI enters a structure, an open field or wooded area. Usually the radio dispatch message is brief and seldom reveals the full nature of the incident. Most often this is done to avoid drawing on-lookers and the media who may be monitoring the dispatch frequency. As the CSI turns onto the street in question, his first obligation is to "turn on" his powers of observation. He may make a mental note of what he sees, hears and smells-or better still-records them on a digital voice recorder. His first reaction to the scene must be, "Does anything look out of place? What odors may be noticeable and are there unusual sounds.   Secure and Protect the Scene Hopefully the first respond...
What is Crime? Crime is a security exploit against secret web cookies over connections using the HTTPS and SPDY protocols that also use data compression . When used to recover the content of secret authentication cookies , it allows an attacker to perform session hijacking on an authenticated web session, allowing the launching of further attacks. The vulnerability exploited is a combination of chosen plaintext attack and inadvertent information leakage through data compression similar to that described in 2002 by the cryptographer John Kelsey . [3] It relies on the attacker being able to observe the size of the ciphertext sent by the browser while at the same time inducing the browser to make multiple carefully crafted web connections to the target site. The attacker then observes the change in size of the compressed request payload, which contains both the secret cookie that is sent by the browser only to the target site, and variable content created by the a...
Police Leverage Facebook to Track Criminals According to a 2012 LexisNexis Risk Solutions survey of federal, state and local law enforcement officials, four out of five officers say  they’ve used social media  to gather information during their investigations, reports CNN. At least half say they check social media at least once per week in conjunction with an open case, and the majority report that social media helps them solve crimes faster. As anyone who has tracked down a long-lost high school crush knows, social media can be a treasure trove for information. And even if suspects keep the information their pages private, friends and family members may not be as savvy. For example, police say that drug dealers have been known to make seemingly innocent public updates about their location (“at the mall shopping” or “making a grocery run”) that are designed to give clients a head’s up about their location. Unfortunately for the drug dealers, this public in...
